2. Where are the dances/classes held?
Dances are held at The Montclair Women's Club, 82 Union Street, Montclair, New Jersey 07042.
Tuesday classes are held at The Commonwealth Club, 26 Northview Avenue, Upper Montclair, New Jersey 07043. Directions below.

3. How do I find out about updates of future events and workshops? Join the email distribution list.

4. When do you offer swing dance classes? Most classes are on Tuesdays with two different levels: 7:00 and 7:45. These classes are followed by the dance that is open to the public.

5. I've taken lessons before, which level would I join? Contact Simone to discuss which class would be best for you.

6. How do I register? Contact Simone at simone@swingingwithsimone.com to sign up. You can pay through paypal.

7. What is the dance space like? A beautiful, spacious and excellent wood dance floor.

8. Do I need to bring a partner? No.

9. Can I come by myself? Yes, it is a friendly group.

10. What do I wear? Loose, comfortable clothes.

11. What ages are invited? All ages.

12. What kind of shoes do I wear? Comfortable smooth-soled shoes.

13. For the Dance Parties on Fridays, how do I dress? As you like; there are suggestions for the theme on the email distribution.

14. Is there parking? Yes, a lot outside for those who come the earliest and overflow on the street on Northview Avenue, Valley Road and side streets.

15. If I come from Manhattan how are the roads? Upper Montclair is 12 miles west from the Lincoln Tunnel with direct roads. Directions below.

16. Public transportation from Manhattan? Convenient by both bus and train, approximate time 25-40 minutes. The bus stop is 1 ½ blocks away and the train is 3 blocks away from our Dance site. Directions below.

17. Are there restaurants in the area? Yes, a variety within blocks (Southwest, Japanese, Italian Panini and Gelato, Natural, Diner, Pizza).

From the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY: Take Exit 151 and turn onto WATCHUNG AVENUE toward Montclair (R turn coming from the north and L from the south). Stay on Watchung until you hit Valley Road -6 lights coming from the north and 7 lights from the south. (The road will snake when you pass through Watchung Plaza- just bear L and go under the railroad trestle and at the stop sign turn R). Turn L at the light on VALLEY ROAD. Travel to the 2nd light and turn R onto BLOOMFIELD AVENUE. At the next light turn L on ORANGE ROAD and travel to the 2nd light (.4) and turn sharp L on UNION STREET. We are on the RIGHT in the middle of the 2nd block (.1), a light gray framed building. You have arrived!

FROM THE WEST: Route 80 East to 280 East. Take Exit 8B PROSPECT AVENUE, Cedar Grove. Travel on PROSPECT AVENUE and at the 7th light turn R on BLOOMFIELD AVENUE (Acura Dealership on L). Go to the 3rd light (.7) and turn R on ORANGE ROAD. Travel to the 2nd light (.4) and turn sharp L onto UNION STREET. We are on the RIGHT in the middle of the 2nd block (.1), a light gray framed building.

FROM THE EAST: Route 46 to VALLEY ROAD, MONTCLAIR Exit. Travel on VALLEY ROAD toward Montclair and at the 6th light (4.4) turn R onto BLOOMFIELD AVENUE. At the next light turn L on ORANGE ROAD and travel to the 2nd light (.4). Turn sharp L on UNION STREET. We are on the RIGHT in the middle of the 2nd block (.1), a light gray framed building.

FROM MANHATTAN BY CAR: Take the LINCOLN TUNNEL, after about 2 miles you will bear Right onto ROUTE 3 WEST (if you stay straight you will end up on the NJ Turnpike, no-no). From this point after 10.6 miles you will turn Right on the exit marked VALLEY ROAD-MONTCLAIR (Look for Rt. 3 to narrow and go under an overpass). Turn Right off the ramp onto VALLEY ROAD, MONTCLAIR. Travel on VALLEY ROAD toward Montclair and at the 6th light (4.4) turn R onto BLOOMFIELD AVENUE. At the next light turn L on ORANGE ROAD and travel to the 2nd light (.4). Turn sharp L on UNION STREET. We are on the RIGHT in the middle of the 2nd block (.1), a light gray framed building.

From the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY: Take Exit 151 and turn west onto WATCHUNG AVENUE (Right turn coming from the north and Left from the south). Stay on Watchung until you hit GROVE STREET -4 lights coming from the north and 5 lights from the south. Turn Left on Grove and go to the next light, and make a Right on CHESTNUT STREET. Go underneath the overpass and take next Left on FOREST STREET. The Annex is the 2nd building on your right.(Square building behind parking lot).

FROM THE WEST: 80 East to 280 East. Take Exit 8B PROSPECT AVENUE, Cedar Grove. Travel on PROSPECT AVENUE and at the 7th light turn Right on BLOOMFIELD AVENUE (Acura Dealership on Left). Travel .7 of a mile and turn Left on VALLEY ROAD. Count 4 streets on your Right (.5 mile) and turn Right onto CHESTNUT STREET. Travel up and through the light ahead and the following 2nd street on your right is FOREST STREET. The Annex is the 2nd building on your right.(Square building behind parking lot).

FROM MANHATTAN BY CAR: Take the LINCOLN TUNNEL, after about 2 miles you will bear Right onto ROUTE 3 WEST (if you stay straight you will end up on the NJ Turnpike, no-no). From this point after 10.1 miles you will turn Right on the exit marked GROVE STREET/MONTCLAIR/PATERSON (exit following Garden State Parkway South). Turn Left on Grove and go to the 6th light, and make a Right on CHESTNUT STREET. Go underneath the overpass and take next Left on FOREST STREET. The Annex is the 2nd building on your right.(Square building behind parking lot).

A $3. discount is offered to people who cross the Husdon River.

Directions to The Commonwealth Club (Tuesday Classes)

From the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY: Take Exit 151 and turn onto WATCHUNG AVENUE (R turn coming from the north and L from the south). Stay on Watchung until you hit Valley Road -6 lights coming from the north and 7 lights from the south.( The road will snake when you pass through Watchung Plaza- just bear L and go under the railroad trestle and at the stop sign turn R). Make a R turn at the light on VALLEY ROAD. Travel 1/4 mile and turn R on NORTHVIEW AVENUE (opposite the A&P). 1/2 block on your L you will see a small sign of THE COMMONWEALTH CLUB. You have arrived!

FROM THE WEST: 80 East to 280 East. Take Exit 8B Prospect Avenue, Cedar Grove. Travel on PROSPECT AVENUE and at the 7th light turn R on BLOOMFIELD AVENUE (Acura Dealership on L). Travel .7 of a mile and turn L on VALLEY ROAD. Travel through 2 lights and 1.7 miles across from the A&P on your R turn onto NORTHVIEW AVENUE. Half block on the L look for sign for THE COMMONWEALTH CLUB.

FROM MANHATTAN BY CAR: Take the LINCOLN TUNNEL, after about 2 miles you will bear Right onto ROUTE 3 WEST (if you stay straight you will end up on the NJ Turnpike, no-no). From this point after 10.6 miles you will turn Right on the exit marked VALLEY ROAD-MONTCLAIR (Look for Rt. 3 to narrow and go under an overpass). Turn Right off the ramp onto VALLEY ROAD and at the FOURTH light turn Left onto BELLEVUE AVENUE. Travel one block and turn Right on NORTHVIEW AVENUE. One and a half blocks on the Right you will see a small sign for THE COMMONWEALTH CLUB.

VIA PORT AUTHORITY (between 40th and 41st): Walk down the hall to about the middle of the block. You will see about 5 stairs on the left leading up to ticket counters. Find DE CAMP LINES and buy a round trip ticket to Upper Montclair bus #66 (cost $10.50). Go to Gate 414 two floors up.The bus leaves at 7:30 sharp. (or on the hour and half hour)

Ask the driver to let you know when the NORTHVIEW AVENUE exit in Upper Montclair comes up. (It is one stop after the Bellevue Plaza stop). If there is no traffic it should take 25-30 minutes. If you come early there are plenty of restaurants in the area.

Once you are at the Northview Avenue drop, walk down Northview Avenue 1 1/2 blocks. On your right you will find a small sign for THE COMMONWEALTH CLUB, 26 Northview Avenue.

The last bus back to Manhattan is at 11:30. The bus will pick you up at the same place but across the street. Make sure you wave to the bus as it is approaching.

VIA PENN STATION (Manhattan): Train leaves at 7:37 from usually Track 1-10, ask the teller for info.(From time to time the schedule varies slightly, so it may be wise to confirm). Round trip $7.00. It arrives at 8:14 to UPPER MONTCLAIR. Walk toward town on BELLEVUE AVENUE past the light and the following block is NORTHVIEW AVENUE, turn Right. Walk 1 1/2 blocks to 26 Northview Avenue and find the small sign on the right THE COMMONWEALTH CLUB. If you would like to have dinner before there are many restaurants in the area. Earlier trains leave at 5:50 and 6:40. Last train leaves from the opposite side of the track at 10:24. So you probably want to take the bus home.
